That's what Dad whispered when he came home after 11 days in the hospital. 💔

He was thin, tired and scared. He couldn't even bend down to say hello to the dog who had been waiting by the door in his old boots the whole time.

So Cooper did something none of us expected.

He walked over slowly, placed his chin on Dad's knee, and just looked up at him. No barking. No jumping. Just eight years of love in one quiet look. 🐾

Dad cried. We all did.

Then Cooper lay down on his slippers and fell asleep, like he was finally allowed to rest. Like he'd been holding his breath since the day Dad left.

They say dogs live in the moment. But I think Cooper carried every single one of those 11 days with him. And now he's not going to let go.

He's been waiting on this porch for 11 days. 🐾

Every afternoon, Cooper drags himself to the front door, lays his chin on Dad's old work boots, and stares down the street at every truck that passes.

Dad went into the hospital for surgery and Cooper doesn't understand why the house is so quiet. He won't eat much. He won't sleep on his own bed. He just waits by those boots, like he's holding a spot for the one person who never left him behind.

Today, we heard the truck.
