How Much Time Do You Need To Ride Central Park By Bike?

So, you've decided to rent a bike and ride around Central Park. To clearly plan your free time, you want to know how long it will take you to explore the entire park, right?

We can try to answer this question with statistics about the park size:

– the total area of ​​Central Park is 843 acres;
– biking loop is 6 miles
– there are 83 miles of walking pathways
– also Central Park has many hills, specially in the northern part.

If you choose to walk the entire the park, on average it takes 4-5 hours. On a bike, you could cover 6 miles loop non-stop within an hour.

However, a new question arises here. Are you visiting Central Park to exercise and just get through as quickly as possible ? Or you want to explore it’s architecture, discover it’s reach history, relax and enjoy the surrounding beauty?

Therefore, depending on your answer you will need at least 1hr to just ride through non-stop and min 2hr up to all day to enjoy the park fully. Best Places to Explore Central Park in Autumn by Bike

Choosing just a few places in the large Central Park is a difficult task - there are so many attractions and spectacular views! However, if you want to see as much as possible, you can rent a bike or scooter and ride through the park.

What places should you pay attention to first? We have chosen three places in the south, the center and the north of the park.

1) Once picked up the bikes, head to 7th Avenue entrance of Central Park, ride through the center drive towards the Mall. Combination of yellow-red foliage from Elm trees will make a stunning impression on you. Bright autumn colors will give you a lot of opportunities for photos. Then continue to ride towards Bethesda Terrace & Fountain to enjoy amazing architecture and views of the Lake.

2) In the central part, we recommend visiting - the Obelisk (Cleopatra's Needle), Turtle Pond and Belvedere Castle. They are close to each other and you will have time to see all three places without much effort.

3) In the northern part, a large area is occupied by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, moving along the east drive and sometimes moving to the side, you can see many small monuments and artworks. Continue north and ride along the shore of Harlem Meer.
