Born 99 years ago on March 16th, Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan believed that cities earn their greatness through the quality of their public spaces. Moynihan Train Hall stands as a testament to that conviction and to the vision that shaped it.

In the early 1990s, Senator Moynihan first proposed transforming the historic James A. Farley Building into a world-class train hall worthy of New York City. What followed was a generation of civic ambition, persistence, and determination. The result is a space that honors the past while welcoming the future: historic restoration, soaring skylights, and a sense of arrival that reminds every traveler entering New York City exactly where they are. Today we celebrate Senator Moynihan.
