A four-hour drive from Chiang Mai brought us north to Chiang Rai — an easy journey made even better with stops along the way, including the striking White Temple Wat Rong Khun and one of our favorite meals of the trip (🍔🍔) at Emma Divit, a charming riverside family-owned bakery and restaurant.

From there, we arrived at one of the most special stays I’ve ever experienced: the exclusive Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, magically set in the jungle where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet along the Mekong River.

We spent three unforgettable nights here, welcoming the New Year in a way I’ll never forget — releasing candle-lit lanterns into the sky and watching hundreds of tea lights float down the Mekong.

With just 15 luxury tents with every amenity imaginable, the camp feels intimate and deeply personal. Everything about the experience — the setting, the people, the elephants and pace — was thoughtful and intentional. Mixing in a deep tie to elephant conservation, this is definitely among our top stays of all time.

Some highlights that stood out in our experience.
• Arriving by longboat along the Mekong River
• Daily breakfasts with two rescued elephants Linda and Plum, cared for by the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation
• Walking with several of the elephants (there are 20 rescues) and learning their heartbreaking individual stories and personalities.
• A private BBQ dinner, ending with lanterns released into the night sky (poorly timed on our part might add)
• A private cooking class where we made fried rice, chicken pad Thai (our favorite of the trip), and mango sticky rice
• Sublime treatments in an open air pavilion.
• Staying in the beyond stunning two-pavilion Explorer’s Lodge, with a pool seemingly floating above the jungle

More than anything, it was the people that resonated the most. A superlative experience.

As the year wraps, I’m thinking less about how many hotels I stayed in — and more about the ones that genuinely stayed with me throughout 2025… the places that earn permanent spots on my recommendation lists.

I experienced so many remarkable properties firsthand this past year that truly delivered beyond the hype and headlines to where it counts: personalized service, a strong sense of place, and a unique thoughtful style.

Stays that stood out (in no particular order):

* Four Seasons Surfside, Miami — A perennial beachfront favorite north of Miami. One of my favorite hotel bars
* Palm Beach Palm House — A fun, fresh newcomer - exactly what Palm Beach needed
* Adare Manor, Ireland — A true six-star experience in a jaw-dropping castle setting
* Cashel Palace, Ireland — Horse-country heaven in a beautifully restored historic house
* Enasoit, Kenya — A magical, family-owned private camp in the Laikipia highlands
* Cottar’s Camp, Kenya — A romantic Out of Africa–style tented camp in a remote corner of the Mara
* Peponi Hotel, Kenya — Low-key yet cultish; a longtime family-owned seaside boutique in Shela
* 137 Pillars Chiang Mai — A 30-suite boutique oasis in the heart of the city
* Four Seasons Tented Camp, Golden Triangle — An unforgettable way to end the year at this elephant-centric ultra-luxe jungle hideaway in northern Thailand.
* Les Fermes de Marie, Megève — Rustic-chic alpine farmhouse retreat
* Four Seasons George V, Paris — Elegant, traditional, and unapologetically Parisian amid a sea of modern alternatives
* The Emory, London — An ultra-discreet newcomer redefining with epic rooftop bar
* Maslina Resort, Croatia — Secluded, chic seaside wellness retreat on Hvar
* One&Only Portonovi, Montenegro —A grand show-stopping property with killer spa

Four places I visited without overnight stays, yet left a lasting impression

* Lemongarten, Brač — A chic farmhouse hideaway with stunning grounds on island of Brač
* Villa Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik — Visited pre-reopening; stylish and luxe in Dubrovnik
* Faena New York - Faena brings its vibe and drop dead interiors to NYC
* At Sloane London - Sexy boutique hideaway in Chelsea.

Following the beach days of Phuket, the walled city of Chiang Mai was a terrific two-night addition to our trip before heading further north and offering a completely different energy.

Home to over 300 temples, vibrant street food markets and artisan shops and independent coffee shops (Chiang Mai is Thailand’s coffee capital), Chiang Mai was a great place to soak in local culture along with an afternoon visiting an ethical elephant sanctuary nearby (more on this in a separate post). There is a great vibe to this ancient city.

Our choice of stay: the utterly charming 30-suite boutique (SLH) hotel 137 Pillars, an oasis in the center of the city whose original teak structure (lovingly restored and home to the bar and restaurant) once served as the HQ of the Borneo Trading Center. From the aim-to-please staff to the beautiful grounds (with that dramatic pool) and interiors to the spacious suites, each with outdoor verandahs and individual personal concierge, this is the type of property I adore: One with a history and true sense of place, thoughtful attention to details coupled with genuine, warm hospitality.

Thailand, stop one: Phuket 🌴

After two long flights and serious jet lag, starting our 12-day Thailand trip with a beach resort was exactly the reset we needed. Phuket — especially in December — felt like the right place to ease into the rhythm of the trip.

We chose Anantara Mai Khao Villas, an exclusive villa-only resort in northwest Phuket, just 20 minutes from the airport (a huge plus after long-haul travel). The resort has been getting extra attention after being featured in White Lotus Season 3, making this my second firsthand experience with the so-called “White Lotus effect.”

With just 83 pool villas and a compact layout, the resort feels intimate, lush, and easy to navigate — ideal for families and travelers planning to spend most of their time on property. We paired our stay with two full-day yacht excursions to nearby islands (highly recommended). After having to abort our second trip an hour in due to rough seas, I recommend highly a yacht which we did earlier in the week

Good to know
• The beach here is part of a national park, so there are no loungers or beach service. For us, the natural setting made up for it.
• The resort is more remote than Amanpuri, Rosewood, or Trisara, which are closer to marinas and Phuket Town. I personally loved the quieter, less developed feel — but it’s worth noting depending on your travel style.
• The walkable layout works great for families.

What we loved
• Our spacious two-bedroom indoor/outdoor pool villa
• Beautifully maintained grounds and serene atmosphere
• Outstanding service from Sunny, our butler and team
• A standout spa with excellent therapists

What didn’t quite land
• The main beachfront pool is the only shared pool, and during the holidays it was difficult to enjoy with many young children
• Inconsistent pool service and a limited menu
• A nearby unethical elephant-feeding attraction in Turtle Village (not affiliated with the hotel), was very upsetting to see

When you book Anantara properties through me, you receive added benefits such as welcome amenities, priority upgrades, flexible check-in/out (subject to availability) and dedicated point person.

72 hours in Megève.

Just one hour drive from Geneva is the impossibly pretty and quintessential mountain town of Megève. We spent 72 hours here at the very start of the season — perfectly timed for the annual Christmas tree lighting, fresh snowfall, and a first look at some of the area’s most charming hotels just opening for the season.

From chalet-style classics (Fermes de Marie, Cour de Megeve and L’Alpaga) to newly redesigned favorites (Lodge Park, Flacons de Sea), our days were filled with hotel visits, shopping (bien sur), and of course… eating. Think bubbling cheese fondue, raclettes, hot cocoa, sushi, and steak — all against a backdrop of snow-covered rooftops and fir trees after major snowfall just days before our arrival.

I was utterly charmed by this postcard-perfect town with cobblestone streets and horse-drawn carriages, chic shops and cozy restaurants and both superb people and dog 🐾 watching. Sophisticated but not pretentious, refined but warm — Megeve is a true Alpine village with great style and charm.

🍂 5 New Hotel Openings We Are Crazy About ✈️

September and October are two of the best months to travel — the weather’s magic, crowds thin out, and the hotel deals? Pretty irresistible.

Even better: These five new (or soon-to-come) hotels are bringing serious style — and grand opening perks. From the Dolomites to Jackson Hole, here’s what’s catching my eye right now:

📍 Aman Rosa Alpina | Dolomites
Opening today! After much anticipation, this iconic mountain retreat is back as an Aman — and it’s even more beautiful than I imagined. We have an exclusive 3-night preview offer available for travel through October 12 — ideal for a fall escape into Italy’s stunning alpine region.

📍 Son Ermita | Menorca
Menorca is the under-the-radar Balearic gem — slower, softer, and maybe even more enchanting than the more well known sister island Mallorca. Opening August 1, this new boutique finca promises rustic-chic interiors, relaxed vibes, and authentic island charm. Perfect for end-of-summer getaways.

📍 The Edition | Lake Como
Opening in exclusive preview this September, this 145-room stunner features a floating pool, multiple restaurants, and a prime position across from Bellagio on Lake Como’s western shore. We have exclusive preview offers from September 9–October 13 — so you can be one of the first to stay.

📍 The Sylvan Lodge | Jackson Hole
Just opened! Tucked into the private Snake River Sporting Club, this new boutique lodge offers luxury accommodations with access to all the club’s exclusive amenities (think fly fishing, horseback riding, golf, and more). It’s giving Montage Palmetto Bluff vibes— but in the mountains.

📍 La Badia by Il Pellicano | Orvieto, Umbria
Not open yet, but worth the buzz: Il Pellicano Group just announced their third hotel, taking over the historic La Badia, a former 6th-century abbey in the hills of Orvieto. Set to open in 2027, this will be a must-visit for Pellicano-ites and Italophiles craving the quiet elegance of Umbria.

An Italian Wave 🇮🇹👋🌊

If I’ve been quiet on here lately, it’s only because I’ve been swept up in the May/June post-school travel wave to Europe. Once again, one destination continues to reign supreme…ITALY.

From the glassy waters of Lake Como in the North to the raw beauty of Sicily in the South, and everything in between, this summer is shaping up to be an Italian love affair on repeat. Yes, Greece, Spain, France and others are always in the mix, but the craving for Italy shows no sign of dissipating, nothing satisfies quite like Italy for la dolce vita!

A few of our go-to gems we’re booking on repeat this Summer:

Grand Hotel Tremezzo
Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco
Reschio
Four Seasons San Domenico Palace
Villa Igiea
Hotel Pellicano
Hotel Byron
Villa Roma Imperiale

Palm Beach for a girlie weekend is always a good idea - a little beach, cocktails at the pool, shopping Worth Avenue and Royal Poinciana Plaza, and hitting all our fave eats (This time Swiftys, Renato’s, Buccan, Sant Ambroeus, Surfside Diner). But it’s especially great when you get to check into one of the hottest openings of 2025: the Palm House.

This newly opened 79-room luxury boutique hotel (3 yrs and $100MM renovation), which just opened in November and is so centrally located just steps from the beach, shops and restaurants hit all the right notes for three nights in April. Embracing iconic pink and green hues that is Palm Beach, it’s both serious and fun. Serious is the talented Nobu-trained chefs whipping up amazing poke bowls and sushi which we loved nibbling on poolside. Also the spacious and beautifully designed rooms with floor to ceiling windows, high ceilings and incredibly comfy beds and let’s not forget an essential: the warm and friendly staff who could not do enough to make us feel welcomed.

In Palm Beach, you have an array of accommodations to choose from, from the iconic standbys of The Breakers and the Colony Hotel to the chic boutiquey Brazilian Court and the White Elephant. Coming soon is the long-awaited Vineta Hotel in the former Chesterfield. The Palm House is a truly welcome addition to the scene and I could not recommend it more. See our instastories highlights for more pics!

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know the highly anticipated White Llotus season three is here and has moved on to the tantalizing destinations of Thailand (spoiler alert: Greg is back!).

Thailand has been on my short list for while, and excited to be going this coming winter holiday (copying the same itinerary I did for a client the year before - a hazard in our business - I want to go on so many of the itineraries I create for others). I made sure to book our hotels before the WL release for fear of the dreaded freeze out or rate bump.

A peek at the places we are headed:

🌴Anantara Mai Khao in Phuket (some of season filmed here including the lagoon and spa scenes)
⛩️137 Pillars Chiang Mai
🐘Four Seasons Golden Triangle
🏙️Capella Bangkok

Who else is getting Thailand fever?
