The first thing people notice about Bo-Kaap is the color.

But the more time I spent there, the more I realized the neighborhood carries a much deeper story.

I’ve now walked through Bo-Kaap more than once during my time in Cape Town, and each visit made me slow down and look beyond the brightly painted houses.

Real rest can feel unfamiliar when you're used to always being on.

Maybe it's not you... maybe it's the way most trips are set up.
