This is the end... Last two days in NY, last two days of this world tour!

A gospel mass in Harlem, Malcom X Boulevard, Grand Central Station, and a walk with guys in Central Park: it's still a great way to end this trip!
We are extremely grateful to and for hosting us and allowing us to discover this grandiose and emblematic city.
Another unplanned step, but the icing on the cake!

New York: Last stop on our world tour!

How can we not end this wonderful journey with the mythical Big Apple??

The largest city in the United States in terms of number of inhabitants (9M and 25M for the metropolitan area) and one of the largest on the American continent and in the world. It is sometimes described as the Capital of the world or the City of cities, such is its influence. New York ranks first in the triad of major global financial centers with London and Hong Kong.

We arrive in this immense megalopolis for 5 days, not by chance, but to visit our French friends and who have been living here for several years.

We start our visit with Little Island, the Greenway, the famous 5th avenue and the immense St Patrick Cathedral. Highlight of the show for this first day we will have the chance to fly over the city at night in a 4-seater plane!!! Whaaaooouuu!!! 🤩🤩🤩

Honolulu: stopover in the Pacific!

On the way to our next destination, we have a 10-hour layover in Hawaii! A small and all too brief overview of this magnificent archipelago!

Honolulu is the largest city in this American state.

Just enough time to have brunch, stroll through the shopping streets of the city center and stroll on the splendid Waikiki beach!

Last stop: Melbourne!

The second largest urban agglomeration in the country after Sydney, “Greater Melbourne” has 4,968,000 inhabitants. Melbourne was founded by free settlers in 1835, 47 years after the first European penal colony was established in Sydney, as an agricultural development area around the Yarra River. The city quickly transformed into a metropolis during the Victorian gold rush in the 1850s. Melbourne is an important commercial, industrial and cultural center. The city is often referred to as the "sporting and cultural" capital of Australia.

Tired of van life, we returned it with a week's notice in order to relax and rest in real, more comfortable accommodation. We will explore the city according to our motivation and depending on the weather, alternating as usual between cultural or artistic visits inside and visits to heritage and architecture outside.

After a week in Melbourne, it is time for us to say goodbye to Australia that we traveled for 50 days, over 7000km, from the north east to the south. You followed it, the weather was not ideal and probably tarnished our experience, but that does not take away the beauty and diversity of the country!
See you again dear Australia!

Wilsons Promontory: Australia's favorite southern national park!

We quickly understand why: great hiking possibilities, preserved nature, animals roaming free, rainforests, fresh waterways, and dream beaches!
“The Prom”, Wilsons Promontory covers 505 km².

A last breath of fresh air for two days before joining our last city stop!

A new island: Phillip Island!

After leaving the Great Ocean Road, we cross from Queenscliff to reach Sorrento and continue the road to the island crossing the San Remo bridge, after a brief stop to observe the pelicans in the port.
The island has an area of approximately 100 km2 with a length of 26 km and a maximum width of 9 km.

We will start directly with a beautiful walk in the Cape Woolamai park, where we will observe snakes, seabirds and wallabi. The day will end after a visit to Pyramid Rock.
The main attraction of the island is the observation of a colony of penguins which return after dark. Very touristy and privatized for business (under the cover of animal protection), we will once again boycott this type of attraction).

The next day we will explore the Summerland nature reserve at the other end of the island before returning to the mainland crossing the north of the island.
We will then continue along the coast towards the south taking the very beautiful road separating Cape Paterson and Inverloch.

A little more of the Great Ocean Road.

We continue past Apollo Bay towards the East, along the coast. Wongarra, Kennett River, Lorne, Erskine Falls, Aireys Intlet, Anglesa, Point Addis.... our route will take us to the end of the Great Ocean Road after Torquay.

Despite the still gray weather, we still understand why this road is described as one of the most beautiful in the world. We greatly enjoyed this part of Australia. Please keep in mind that it can be very (too) busy in high season.

Great Ocean Road! The most famous coastal route in the country.

Built between 1919 and 1932 by soldiers returning from the First World War, this road has become a tourist hotspot in Victoria. It offers magnificent views of Bass Strait with landscapes made of cliffs and other impressive rock formations.
It is 243km long and we will cover it in two days with numerous stops.

On the way to Victoria, end of visit to South Australia.

After our excursion to Kangaroo Island, we take the southern route, following Long Bay. We will make stops at Victor Harbor and its cute Granite Island, we will greet the largest lobster in the world in Rose Town (Kingston) and we will take the time to take a detour to Coonawarra to taste their very good wines!
We will cross the border between the two regions at Nelson (very pleasant on the edge of the estuary). Finally, we will visit the city of Portland, its historic vehicle museum and its surroundings (Shelly Beach, Cape Nelson), before making a new stop at Port Fairy.

Tomorrow we begin a memorable and unmissable journey in the South of Australia... can you guess?
