This week we prepared for Tropical Storm Gordon. This week we go over the new fuel system and share the design, considerations and draw and return process. While normally you think fuel is not all that complicated, and ours isn't, there was still a lot to consider. 3 diesel tanks, electric fuel pump, dual Racor filter boss, generator, primary engine and return fuel, it all needed to be considered. This week we made progress on a lot of little tasks. None of these made me feel great about our progress, but getting many of them done was needed. We did some more awlwood preparation and applying the finish. We sanded the bowsprit again, and then applied primer to it. We found a serious problem with some stringers in the galley (Uggh). This week we finally install and bed the stanchion bases. We really struggled with these and needed to find screws, nuts, washers and acorn nuts to make them look great from the inside and outside. Once these were all bedded (48 holes in the boat later), it was time to move on to other work. The teak cap and toe rails were sanded again in preparation for a coat of Awlwood MA. With the boat nearing completion we are starting to think about our next destination. The last thing we want to do is stay in one spot with a newly refit sailboat. In this weeks episode, the tarps come off the boat and we can finally see her painted and with the coach house skin complete. She looks so good and it is not even done. We sand down some fairing on the ceiling and we also have a big ole crawfish boil for our friends and the Americore Volunteers. This week we finish putting the Awlwood MA on the boom, and traveler car. As I mentioned in an earlier video the application of this product (and most frankly) is to plan the recoat timeframes so that you are applying the next coat at the optimal time that gives an excellent adherence to the coat below it but minimizes the surface preparation time. This week we tackle a leak that we have had in our forward stateroom (The V Berth) I wasn't really sure where this leak was coming from in the past and made an assumption it was coming from the transition from the anchor well to the deck.
