Our founder, Roy Berard Sr., started our great company back in 1945 and since then, Berard has transformed into an industry leader in our field with the transport of offshore decks, jackets, power transformers, mega yachts and a multitude of other projects weighing thousands of tons. Berard OnTheMove Newsletter - October 2026

P‑82 has officially arrived in Hawaii, marking the successful completion of another complex heavy transport operation by the Berard team. Originating in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the 1,000‑ton crane was loaded out, secured, and prepared for a long marine voyage engineered entirely by Berard. Our team developed the turnkey load‑out and ballast plan, along with the full sea‑fastening design and installation required for a 9,000 nautical mile journey that crossed the Great Lakes, the Atlantic Ocean, the Panama Canal, and the Pacific before arriving at a commercial harbor on Oahu Aug. 27 just ahead of Hurricane Lala.
Upon arrival, the crane was offloaded to rail for final positioning. This project also showcased the strength and versatility of our Modular Beam System (MBS), which once again proved to be the right tool for the job. From engineering to ex*****on, Berard delivered a complete end‑to‑end solution. A huge thank‑you goes out to every Berard team member who contributed to this effort. Their expertise, commitment, and above‑and‑beyond performance ensured that P‑82 reached the Aloha State safely and in perfect condition.

In shipyard news, Berard successfully transported a massive 4,741‑ton wind feeder barge measuring 223 feet long and 118 feet wide, executing the move with the precision these high‑stakes projects demand. The team deployed 168 axle lines of SPMTs along with eight power packs to safely lift, stabilize, and maneuver the load through the project site. Coordinating our team as well as the shipyard teams along with equipment of this scale requires expert planning, communication, and control, and Berard once again delivered a smooth, efficient, and safe transport from start to finish.

In other news, Berard had a great time exhibiting at Breakbulk Americas at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. Our team truly enjoyed visiting with attendees, reconnecting with longtime clients, and introducing our company to many new faces throughout the event.
