The New Hope Railroad is nestled 37 miles outside of Philadelphia in Bucks County's premiere destination; New Hope, Pennsylvania. A Delaware river town chock-full of niche shops and restaurants, a fitting locale for a day or night out with friends & family. We provide a glimpse into the travel of a bygone era on historic trains traveling over tracks that were laid in 1891 by the North-East Pennsyl

vania Railroad. Join us on an entertaining and educational adventure perfect for riders of all ages and interests as you journey through the hills and valleys of beautiful Bucks County. Relive the golden age of rail travel and take a front-row seat as you take in the passing scenery of streams, scenic farmland, historic buildings, bridges, and surroundings. On-board narration, provided on most trips, details the history and folklore of the railroad, the towns, as well as points of interest along the line.

Today, our railroad family grieved as we learned of the passing of Andrew Goldberg, one of our kindest, energetic, and passionate Trainmen.

At just 20 years old, Andrew embodied the very spirit of the heritage railroad industry, channeling his deep love of railroad history into creating memorable experiences for thousands of passengers from around the world. Above all, his infectious smile brought out the best in everyone he worked with.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this profoundly difficult time.

Happy 100th Birthday, Locomotive No. 40!

One century ago this week, No. 40 rolled out of the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia, beginning a journey that would span states, railroads, and generations. Yesterday, our team celebrated the milestone with cake — and our Steam CMO, Grayson, ensured No. 40 shared in the festivities… with a little help from the firebox.

Completed on December 2, 1925, the 2-8-0 “Consolidation” entered service just three days later on the Lancaster & Chester Railroad in South Carolina. It served there until after WWII, then moved to the Cliffside Railroad in North Carolina, working as a switcher until its retirement in 1962. After its freight career ended, No. 40 headed north — first to Wilmington, then St. Clair, PA — before arriving in Bucks County in 1966. Restored in the 1970s and rebuilt again in 1990, it has been the heart of our fleet ever since, pulling excursions and creating memories for thousands of riders.
