Let’s do the math: running a school bus stop-arm is never worth the risk! Illegally passing a stopped school bus to save a few minutes will get you a $250 citation in the mail.

The good news? This math has a proven solution. Once drivers receive a citation, 94% of them never get a second one.

Save yourself the fine and start driving safer today. Learn more about New Haven's school bus safety camera program at https://saferoutesforall.org/school-bus-safety-cameras/

Get your appetite ready, New Haven! Outdoor dining is coming soon...

The City’s 2026 Outdoor Dining Program is transforming parking spots into vibrant on-street patios called parklets, helping support local businesses while creating more lively neighborhoods. To keep everyone safe, the 2026 guidelines require heavy-duty protective barriers, high-visibility reflective markers, and ADA compliance. Plus, parklets are only allowed on streets with safe speed limits of 25 MPH or less.

Stay tuned as your favorite local spots begin setting up their outdoor tables!

Beginning in early spring, Chapel Street between College and York Streets will be restored to two-way traffic. This design change is a key part of our citywide effort to naturally reduce speeding, improve traffic flow, and create a safer environment for every person on every route.
