Sadly, the 'sign tree' in front of the Thompson House lost a limb in the last storm making the rot in the middle of the tree visible. We had to make the difficult decision to take the rest of the tree down. :( The wood will warm our home through the coming winters and we will plant a sapling in its place. We counted 150 rings and considering the rot in the middle of the stump, I suspect it was closer to 160 years old. The sign will be relocated to the neighboring tree. Rest peacefully, mighty oak.

Happy Spring, All!! We're coming out of hibernation with less than a week until we open (!).
Availability Alert: the Erva Weeks House, with a brand new picture window and freshly painted trim, is available for the month of May. Just $209/night (for payment by check--call to book) plus tax for a long weekend stay (Memorial Day weekend). This cottage has a covered stone patio (great for grilling) with a limited water view, working fireplace with firewood provided and it's a hop, skip and a jump down the hill to oceanfront access.
