Iceland is wild. Your hotel doesn't need to be.

We've stayed at The Reykjavík EDITION, and it's a great base for exploring Iceland. The location is excellent, right on the harbor and within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops and cafés. The hotel's restaurant is also delicious, so you don't even need to venture out for a great meal.

Spend your days exploring Iceland's incredible landscapes with a private guide, then come back to a beautiful hotel where you can enjoy a cocktail, have dinner or just relax.

One thing people don't always realize is that Iceland is very doable for a long weekend from the East Coast. With nonstop flights from Boston, you can experience quite a bit in just a few days, especially with a well-planned itinerary.

And if you have more time, even better. There's so much more to Iceland beyond Reykjavík and the Golden Circle.

After long days exploring waterfalls, glaciers, or lava fields, coming back to a calm, design-forward hotel with a great spa and strong dining feels like the right contrast.

Iceland is truly unforgettable.

For travelers who've already explored Tokyo and Kyoto, there's so much more of Japan to discover.

One place that's high on my list for my next visit is Amanemu, Aman's hot spring resort on the Ise-Shima Peninsula. It's a beautiful coastal region known for its sheltered bays, fishing villages, pearl cultivation and wonderful seafood.

Every suite and villa has its own private onsen bath fed by natural hot springs, so you can enjoy this part of Japanese culture without navigating the etiquette of communal bathing.

Beyond the resort, there's Ise Grand Shrine, local seafood markets and the region's ama divers, women who have been diving for seafood for centuries.

I've been to Japan several times, but there's still so much I want to see. Amanemu and the surrounding region are definitely on my list for next time.

I’m going to Japan in a few weeks… where should I go first?

I’m excited for the sushi. The temples. The shopping. The vending machines.

And, perhaps disproportionately, 7-Eleven egg sandwiches.

I’ve been planning this trip for months, and while I have plenty on my list, some of the things I’m most excited about are the wonderfully everyday parts of Japan too.

So tell me: what’s the first thing I should eat, see, or do when I get there?

I’m heading to a Nordic tourism event today, and I’m always happy to spend time talking about this part of the world.

The Nordics have such a distinct sense of place. Iceland, especially, has this incredible mix of drama and simplicity: glacial blue water, waterfalls, lava fields, and landscapes that feel unlike anywhere else.

I’m looking forward to seeing what’s new and reconnecting with a region I love sharing.

The Nordics are always a good idea.

A Tuscany trend we fully support: skipping the hotel and staying in an entirely restored borgo, a centuries-old hamlet brought back to life.

Borgo Pignano, near Volterra, is our favorite example. The estate covers 750 organic acres of classic Tuscan hills, and on clear days, you can spot the towers of San Gimignano from the gardens.

The detail everyone photographs: the swimming pool, carved into an ancient limestone quarry on the property. There’s a working artist residency with open studios, horseback rides through the hills, and a kitchen that bakes its bread with wheat grown right on the land.

It feels less like checking into a hotel and more like inheriting a Tuscan estate for the week.

Tuscany, planned well, is a trip you never forget. Reach out, and we’ll build it around Pignano.

Clients always ask us when to visit Norway. It’s a trick question.

Summer: the midnight sun, fjords carved a mile deep, and the Lofoten Islands, where red fishing cabins face beaches that look borrowed from the Caribbean.

Winter: the northern lights, dog sledding through silent forests, and coastal sailings past snow-covered peaks that drop straight into the sea.

Either way, the new generation of design hotels and fjord-side lodges means you never trade comfort for scenery.

Two Norways, both worth the trip. The only hard part is choosing, and that’s a conversation we’d love to have.

Kyoto has so much to love. And sometimes, the best way to experience it is to have a quiet place to return to at the end of the day. 🍁

That’s what makes Aman Kyoto so special to me.

Tucked into the forested hills of northern Kyoto, it feels incredibly private and peaceful, even though you’re still close to some of the city’s most iconic sights. The moment you arrive, the pace shifts.

One of my favorite details is the tea house. It feels so connected to the setting — intimate, thoughtful, and exactly the kind of experience that makes a stay here feel rooted in Kyoto rather than simply placed in it.

There’s also a true onsen, spacious pavilions surrounded by forest, and the kind of personalized guiding that can open the door to deeper cultural experiences throughout the city.

And in November? The garden becomes something else entirely, with the maples glowing in shades of red and gold.

For travelers who want to experience Kyoto fully, but also value privacy, space, and a beautiful sense of calm, Aman Kyoto is one I love recommending.

Here's a fun seasonal flip. While we rake leaves, New Zealand is heading into spring, and its lodge season is just beginning.

Blanket Bay tops our list every time. The lodge looks across Lake Wakatipu to the Humboldt Mountains, scenery so cinematic the valleys nearby stood in for Middle-earth on screen, and Queenstown's restaurants and w**eries are only 45 minutes away.

The itinerary here runs on helicopters and rivers. Heli-fishing on water no road reaches, flyovers of Milford Sound, w**e tasting in Central Otago, or nothing at all in the great stone-and-timber lodge room with a fire going.

New Zealand takes long lead times, and planning now means the trip of a lifetime next year. Reach out!

We absolutely loved Crete. 🇬🇷

It’s one of those places that gives you so many different sides of Greece, all on one island.

Charming little towns, gorgeous beaches, incredible history, mountains that reminded me of Colorado…and oh, the food!

Seriously, the mountains surprised me. You think Greek island and picture beaches and blue water, but then you look up at these huge, rugged mountains and think—WOW. I was not expecting that!

And if you love history, Knossos Palace is a must. We loved getting a glimpse into Crete’s Minoan past and learning more about the history of the island.

But you know me…the food is always going to be a highlight. 😊 Fresh, local, simple, delicious. The kind of meals where you sit a little longer, order one more thing for the table…and then comes the raki!

A little glass after dinner became part of the experience—and one of those fun details we still talk about.

Beautiful beaches. Charming towns. Colorado-like mountains. Ancient history. Amazing food. Crete really felt like so many of the things we love about Greece all wrapped up in one island.

Definitely an island I’d go back to. ❤️

Save this one if Greece is calling your name!
