MACHITO y Sus Afro Cubans on 1953 SEECO 45-7335 - Dragnet - Mambo / Mambo Sentimental. Issued in 1953, this record is in Nice VG condition, plays quite nicely over some light surface crackle that is drowned out by the music. Labels are good. Scarce Original SEECO Factory Sleeve in VG condition, NO Seam Splits. The Afro-Cubans were a Latin jazz band founded by Machito in 1940; often billed as Machito and his Afro-Cubans. Their musical director was Mario Bauzá, Machito's brother-in-law. Machito's music was acknowledged as influencing Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and Stan Kenton. Machito recorded with these three plus Doc Cheatham, Cannonball Adderley, Joe Newman, Eddie Bert and many others during his long career.
