On the road, motorcyclists’ safety is everyone’s safety.

In 2025:
⚠️ 2,937 motorcycle crashes statewide
⚠️ 1 in 3 resulted in serious injury or death
⚠️ Over half involved another vehicle
☀️ Most happened in clear weather

Drivers: Look twice before turning or changing lanes. Slow down, drive alert, and maintain a safe following distance.
Riders: Ride alert, ride sober, and wear protective gear.

The 2026 Safety Break is this Friday, May 22, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at four rest areas across Tennessee.

As travelers stop at participating rest areas on their way into Memorial Day weekend, TTA Road Team Captains, Safety Management Council members, and the Tennessee Department of Safety will be there to share road safety information, snacks, and connect with drivers and families.

If your holiday travels take you past one of these rest areas, we invite you to stop by and learn a few quick safety tips for your long weekend!
