I love Hobbiton and make it a point to visit whenever I am in New Zealand. My recent visit was particularly exciting because I was able to go inside a Hobbit Hole. As the famous quote by J.R.R. Tolkien aptly describes, "Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole,….. it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort”. It was amazing and included approximately nine rooms. I can’t wait to return. My evening at Te Puia in Rotorua, New Zealand began with a guided tour of the geothermal valley, traversing native bush, witnessing geysers, and exploring mud pools. We visited the Kiwi Conservation Centre and the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute. Next we savored a delicious dinner and proceeded to a cultural performance within the exquisitely carved meeting house.

I experienced the iconic Routeburn Track from Queenstown with Nomad Safaris. Our guide, Phoebe, was knowledgeable and packed a delicious lunch for us. The hike to the Falls Hut takes approximately 6 to 7 hours. My favorite part of the walk was the Nature Walk path which was only 15 minutes from the parking lot and about a 30 minute circle trail. It was silent and very peaceful as most walkers are on the main trail.

I bid farewell to San Francisco last month and embarked on my journey with Air New Zealand. I’ve enjoyed their business and coach classes, but this was my first experience with their Sky Couch. I arrived in Sydney refreshed and ready to explore. A couple of weeks later, I continued my trip to Christchurch again pleased with Air New Zealand’s exceptional service. Notably, the silver fern motif is prominently displayed on the tails of their aircraft. The underside of the silver fern reflects moonlight, serving as practical aids for navigating bush pathways at night.

The Cheeky Kiwi picked me up from Te Anau, and the scenery is so captivating that I left the driving to a professional. The Cruise Milford vessel offers ample indoor and outdoor seating.
