Among the awards, $23.9 million willl go to the Greater Nashville Regional Council to expand truck parking along major freight corridors (I-40 and I-24) near Nashville and Knoxville. New parking areas will be built at five Pilot Travel Center locations to accommodate approximately 500 trucks. Parking areas will be accessible free of charge, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and will include amenities.

Work is complete at the Oriska Rest Area, and the new $10 million facility is now open to the public. It has 26 truck parking spaces. The project included replacing the existing building and reconstructing the parking lot to better serve travelers along Interstate 94. The new facility features four sheltered picnic tables, a courtyard, a walking path, and a dog park.

The rest area is located two miles east of Oriska along Interstate 94 at mile marker 304.

Love's Travel Stops has opened a new travel stop. with 52 truck parking spaces along I-25 in Wyoming. Love’s is expanding its footprint in Wyoming, with the opening of a new travel stop in Casper, located at 3387 North Poplar Street (Exit 191). The new travel stop is Love’s sixth in Wyoming.

So far in 2026, Love’s has added 1,314 truck parking spaces across the country.

Law enforcement agencies representing 36 U.S. states, seven Canadian provinces and Mexico participated in this year’s Operation Safe Driver Week. Officers issued 3,409 warnings and 1,956 tickets/citations to commercial motor vehicle drivers, and 559 warnings and 648 tickets/citations to passenger vehicle drivers for various unsafe driving behaviors.

Duffy announced last week that Virginia’s Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) will receive two Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) loans totaling up to $89.7 million from the Build America Bureau. The Mid-West Truckers Association Tuesday posted on Facebook its recommendation that trucking companies not use red-dyed diesel. It urges truckers to wait and see if Illinois issues a waiver of its own regarding red-dyed diesel, and said Trump's executive order does not make clear how the deferred 24.4 cents per gallon federal tax will be collected when the federal waiver expires Dec. 31.

The groups' apprehension over the red-dyed diesel executive order comes as AAA reports the national average for on-highway diesel is $6.30 per gallon, down by a penny from Tuesday.

As part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s plan to widen the entire 320-mile Turnpike Mainline from South Florida to I-75 in Wildwood, every section of the Mainline across the state will be expanded to six or more lanes. Once complete, improvements will add more than 965 lane-miles of capacity to help reduce congestion, giving families more time together and less time in traffic, a press release from DeSantis’ office said.

Speeding was again the most frequently cited unsafe driving behavior during Operation Safe Driver Week. Officers issued 1,003 warnings and 691 citations for speeding-related violations. Commercial motor vehicle drivers accounted for 772 warnings and 342 citations, while passenger vehicle drivers accounted for 231 warnings and 349 citations.
