Today I spoke with the transportation coordinator at DCI Dialysis Center here in Murfreesboro. Over the years, Gentle Heartz Transportation has proudly provided transportation for patients traveling to and from life-sustaining dialysis treatments.

At one point, we operated under a transportation broker, providing insurance-funded transportation services. However, we chose to step away from that arrangement after witnessing too many situations where people were not being treated fairly.

Gentle Heartz is a family-owned, independently operated company. We do not receive government funding, grants, sponsorships, or outside financial assistance. While I am currently researching grant opportunities, the need in our community is immediate.

During my conversation today, I learned that many dialysis patients are struggling to get to their treatments because they simply cannot afford transportation. Some do not qualify for certain programs, while others have exhausted their options.

Organizations like Mid-Cumberland Transportation do incredible work by providing low-cost rides through grant-funded programs. Unfortunately, they are currently experiencing staffing shortages and cannot meet every transportation need in our area.

This is where we hope our community can come together.

Gentle Heartz is seeking local business sponsors, community partners, or individuals who would be willing to sponsor a ride for someone in need of non-emergency medical transportation.

The majority of the clients we serve are elderly individuals, veterans, dialysis patients, and chemotherapy patients. You would be surprised how many people right here in our community have no family support, no reliable transportation, and no way to get to critical medical appointments.

These aren’t optional trips. Many of these treatments are life-saving.

I wish I were a nonprofit organization with the ability to help everyone who calls. Unfortunately, as a small independent business, there are limits to what we can provide without assistance.

difference between someone receiving the treatment they need—or going without.

Due to the current weather conditions and the continued freeze moving through, we’ve made the decision not to transport tomorrow. The safety of everyone involved is our top priority, and we don’t want to place anyone at risk in these conditions.

We carry windows breakers in each of our vehicles for emergencies! Please read this to save your life or others.

Break out the rear window!

Praying for all the families that Ho are going through the worst pain right now.

Most people who drown in submerged cars never knew what to do. If your car ever ends up underwater, don’t panic — and remember these steps:

🔴 Don’t waste time trying to open the doors. Water pressure makes them nearly impossible to push open while submerged.

🟠 Don’t roll down the windows.
Rushing water will make escape even harder — and can trap you faster.

🟡 Remove the headrest.
Most are detachable and can double as a window-breaking tool.

🟢 Break the back window.
Use the metal tip of the headrest (or a window-breaking tool) to smash the rear windshield — it’s designed to “kick out” and is your best exit point.

🔵 Why the back window?
By design, most vehicles float rear-first. That window will be your fastest, safest way out.

🟣 Knowledge is survival.
You may never need this. But if you do — it could save your life.

I wanted to address a few things when it comes to Gentle Heartz Transportation and pricing.

We offer door to door service for clients who can walk and those who need wheelchair accessibility. We not only just show up, we come to your door to assist, and can wait for you during your appointment which means either we wait outside or sit with you during a procedure or appointment.

We believe in giving the best care and treatment along with qualified drivers to do as such.

We do provide regular services such as rides to the airport, the store and day to day activities, however here is what needs to be explained.

Other car services have regular insurance all the way around. You also have no idea who is going to pick you up. That is what you pay for.

With Gentle Heartz, medial transport requires so much much more on all ends. We make sure that the person taking care of you is qualified and WE HAVE TO carry higher insurances for safety, medical and protection purposes.

As much as I wish I could have a charity, (maybe one day) this is also a means of survival for my family.

We strive to be the best and actually are on the lower end of pricing locally. If you’re going to the grocery store, we will make sure it’s within your budget. If it’s medical we have to charge accordingly.

Please contact your insurance companies to find out if you have transportation benefits. If you do not, we will provide you with a detailed invoice that you can submit to your insurance companies to be reimbursed. Sometimes they do.

We will continue to bring you the best, loving, caring, reliable transportation that Murfreesboro has to offer.
