Mount Pleasant wrapped up the school year yesterday with our first last day luncheon! Staff enjoyed chicken and potato salad catered and provided by DMJ along with a potluck-style spread shared by everyone.
This celebration kicked off our last day luncheon season, and we look forward to celebrating with Latrobe and Hempfield later today and Greensburg next week.
Wishing all of our students, staff, and families a safe, fun, and relaxing summer break! ☀️🚌

We’re wrapping up this year’s Mechanic May spotlights by recognizing Tom Stewart!

Tom has been in the industry for 21 years and brings a high level of skill and experience to the team. One of his favorite memories is identifying a defective fuel crossing pipe on an EA-6B aircraft field cell that no one else could figure out—a discovery that led to all aircraft of that model being grounded and inspected.

Tom’s favorite thing about working for DMJ is the team he works with. He appreciates that everyone is dedicated and takes their work seriously, while still enjoying some laughs together.

His favorite part of being a mechanic is problem solving and the satisfaction that comes from positive feedback after a job well done.

A fun fact about Tom is that he builds scale models in his free time.

Tom was motivated to become a mechanic because he enjoys taking machines apart and figuring out how they work.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage, service, and dedication will never be forgotten.
As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, let us take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday and remember those who gave everything for our freedom.

We’re excited to wrap up this week’s Mechanic May spotlight by recognizing Jimmy!

With about 10 years in the industry, Jimmy brings hands-on experience and a passion for taking something broken and making it run like new again.

One of his favorite memories is being at Bristol Motor Speedway and watching his buddy take first place—one of many great experiences he’s made along the way.

He says his favorite thing about working for DMJ is the easy-going workplace.

His favorite part of being a mechanic is the satisfaction of fixing something that’s not working and bringing it back to life.

A fun fact about Jimmy is that he loves smashing cars.

We’re kicking off another week of Mechanic May spotlights by recognizing Bill Lakin!

Bill has been in the industry for 7 years and brings a great attitude and willingness to learn to the team. His favorite memory is his first day at DMJ.

Bill’s favorite thing about working for DMJ is the camaraderie and being part of a strong team. He enjoys working alongside his coworkers and contributing every day.

His favorite part of being a mechanic is that no two days are the same—there’s always something new to learn and you never know what you’re going to see.

A fun fact about Bill is that he loves the outdoors and enjoys spending time in the woods whenever he can.

Bill was motivated to become a mechanic because he’s always enjoyed fixing and working on cars.

We’re excited to wrap up this week’s Mechanic May spotlight by recognizing Mike Lonce!

Mike has been in the industry for an incredible 45 years. While he recently moved into part-time retirement, he still spends a few days each week in the DMJ garage, continuing to share his knowledge and experience with the team.

One of Mike’s favorite memories is shaving his head for the Children’s Miracle Network fundraiser—a moment that shows his willingness to give back and have some fun along the way.

Mike says his favorite thing about working for DMJ is how easy they are to work with and how well they treat their employees—he says that’s one of the perks of a family-run business.

His favorite part of being a mechanic is the satisfaction that comes from fixing things and seeing the job done right.

A fun fact about Mike is that he enjoys hunting, fishing, riding bikes on local trails, picking mushrooms, and even searching for Bigfoot.

Mike was motivated to become a mechanic simply because he’s always enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together.

We’re proud to have Mike as part of the DMJ team and appreciate everything he continues to bring to the garage!

We’re kicking of the week with our next Mechanic May spotlight by recognizing our Shop Foreman, Paul Mears!

Paul has been in the industry for 5 years and brings a strong work ethic and problem-solving mindset to the team. One of his favorite memories is achieving three straight years of passing Pennsylvania State Police inspections without any failures—a big accomplishment that reflects his dedication to safety and quality.

Paul’s favorite thing about working for DMJ is that there’s always something new going on and a different problem to figure out each day. His favorite part of being a mechanic is the challenge that comes with the job.

A fun fact about Paul is that he loves to golf in his free time.

Paul was motivated to become a mechanic growing up on a farm, where he quickly learned the importance of fixing things and figuring them out on his own.

We’re continuing our Mechanic May spotlight by recognizing Jesse Keenan!

Jesse has been in the industry for 16 years and brings a strong passion and experience to the team. One of his favorite memories is working at 18 for a 93-year-old WWII veteran named Fritz. During those two years, Jesse learned everything from pulling engines to metal fabrication—an experience that helped shape the mechanic he is today.

Jesse’s favorite thing about working for DMJ is the challenge of keeping everything running smoothly and building a shop into a full-service facility. He’s also grateful for the crew he works with every day.

His favorite part of being a mechanic is the competitive side. Over the years, Jesse has become a multiple championship-winning rally car builder, driver, and crew member.

A fun fact about Jesse is that he used to build battle bots in high school with fellow mechanic Johnny, competing across Pennsylvania and winning two state-level competitions.

Jesse got his start in mechanics by helping keep his family’s vehicles running, and it quickly grew into a lifelong career.

We’re proud to have Jesse on our team and appreciate everything he brings to DMJ!
