Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001. 🇺🇸

A day that changed our country forever.

Today we remember the lives that were lost, the first responders and everyday heroes who stepped forward, and the families whose lives were forever changed.

May we never forget the courage, sacrifice, and unity shown on that day and in the days that followed.

From all of us at Carroll County Transit, we remember and honor them today and always. ❤️🤍💙

🌟 CARROLL COUNTY COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: MILLEDGEVILLE 🌟

This week, Carroll County Transit is making a stop in Milledgeville! 🚎🧡🖤

Did you know Milledgeville’s history goes all the way back to 1834?

The community began growing around a mill along the creek, and that mill played such an important role in the settlement that it eventually helped give Milledgeville its name “Mill-edge-ville.” 🌾

By the 1880s, another major change was coming. Local residents raised money to encourage the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad to come through Milledgeville. When the railroad arrived, it helped create what became known as “New Town,” bringing new businesses, easier travel and new opportunities to the community. 🚂

Milledgeville continued to grow over the years, adding paved streets, streetlights, schools and other pieces of the community that generations of local families have called home.

And there are still pieces of that history all around Milledgeville today, including the Milledgeville Public Library, the historic railroad story and, of course, Schell Park and the Carroll County Fairgrounds, home of a Carroll County tradition that has brought generations of families together. 🎡🌽

One of our favorite things about doing these community spotlights is getting to celebrate the individual towns that make Carroll County what it is.

At Carroll County Transit, we don’t just travel through these communities; we’re proud to be part of them.

🧡🖤 Here’s to Milledgeville! A small town with a lot of history, community pride and generations of stories to tell.

👇 Milledgeville friends, help us out!
What’s your favorite memory, place, tradition, or piece of Milledgeville history?

We’d love to hear it!
