On Friday, June 5th, the Port of Moses Lake had the pleasure of hosting the Washington Public Ports Association (WPPA) as part of their Port Academy Series, which is dedicated to visiting and learning about initiatives at port districts throughout the state. We were delighted to not only give an overview of the Port of Moses Lake and Grant County International Airport (KMWH), but also talk about our capital, water, power, and workforce development projects.

Following an excellent lunch (thank you, Jet A Way Café, Moses Lake, WA), our guests from all over the state enjoyed a facility tour where they had the opportunity to see Boeing, AeroTEC, Greenpoint Technologies, Stoke, Moses Lake Industries, and Genie from the tarmac side.

Thank you, Chelan Douglas Regional Port Authority, Port of Ephrata, Port of Kalama, Port of Longview, Port of Othello, Port of Pasco, Port of Royal Slope, Port of Royal Slope, Port of Seattle, Port of Sunnyside, Port of Tacoma, Port of Whitman County, and WPPA, for taking the time to visit, engage, and collaborate with us! Your support and involvement are greatly appreciated, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

This , here’s one of our favorite videos honoring the military members who regularly train and test at the Port of Moses Lake’s Grant County International Airport.

Shown here are two Boeing B-52 Stratofortresses, long-range, subsonic, jet-powered strategic bomber used by the United States Air Force. Key identifying features include the eight engines, swept-back wings, tall tail fin, and the black smoke at takeoff. The Stratofortress, one of the most reliable and adaptable aircraft ever made, has been a guest in our skies since the mid 1950’s.

This Memorial Day, Million Air Moses Lake once again hosted the 87 Heroes Remembered ceremony at the Port of Moses Lake’s Memorial Park. Million Air General Manager Mark Bonaudi officiated this annual event honoring the servicemen who made the ultimate sacrifice in Moses Lake on December 20, 1952. The ceremony also included remarks from Port Commissioner Darrin Jackson. Airport Director Rich Mueller attended the event as well.

The memorial park monument reads: “We honor these valiant men who answered the call to service. Those who died, those who survived, none will be forgotten. Words cannot tell of the love, sorrow, and loss of those left behind.”

May their courage, sacrifice, and memory continue to live on in the hearts of this community and in the nation they so honorably served.

Last week’s NCW Tech Alliance Flywheel Investor Conference in Wenatchee was an exciting showcase of what’s possible when some of the region’s brightest minds come together to innovate, collaborate, and build something better. Bringing together creators, founders, investors, business leaders, education partners, and community members from across the state, the event captured the energy and momentum that happens when technology meets opportunity.

As an economic development partner sponsor, the Port of Moses Lake was proud to take part in the event, hosting a booth led by Airport Director Rich Mueller. Director of Business Development Richard Hanover also joined the panel “People, Pipeline, Place: Building Innovation-Ready Regions,” alongside Executive Director of Matchstick Lab Alanna Imbach, Executive Director of North Bank Innovations Dave Barcos, and moderated by COO of Greater Seattle Partners Rebecca Lovell. AeroTEC President Justin Morigeau also helped spotlight the future of industry as moderator of the panel “Building the Future: Aerospace & Advanced Manufacturing.”

As Dr. Sue Kane, CEO of NCW Tech Alliance, said, (and we think it summarizes perfectly), “It reminds us that innovation is not only about technology, it’s about people, their ideas, their courage, and their willingness to work together.”

We offer our respect and admiration to the next generation of creators for their ingenuity, and our thanks to NCW Tech for an inspiring event and to the new colleagues and friends we met there.

Pictured below are familiar faces from our region, including Moses Lake, Washington - Municipal Government Councilmembers Joel Graves and Victor Lombardi, Big Bend Community College President Dr. Sara Thompson Tweedy, Microsoft’s Lisa Karstetter, NCW Tech Alliance CEO Dr. Sue Kane, and North Central ESD’s Cari Horning.
