This past Saturday, Caldwell Connections students got a hands-on introduction to electricity. Under the guidance of Kevin Wood, they learned how to wire outlets and light switches, gaining real-world skills that many adults never have the opportunity to learn.
As the students worked through the project, one young man began struggling with his light switch. After several attempts, frustration started to creep in, and it looked like he was ready to quit.
That's when Kevin shared a lesson far more valuable than wiring a switch:
"You never ever give up at anything in life, kiddo."
The student took a deep breath, went back to work, and kept trying. A few minutes later, the light bulb came on.
The smile on his face shined brighter than the bulb itself.
That's what Caldwell Connections is all about. Yes, we're teaching real skills and creating real experiences. But more importantly, we're helping young people build confidence, solve problems, and learn that success often comes one more try after you feel like giving up.
Sometimes the brightest thing in the room isn't the light. It's a young person realizing what they're capable of.
