If you’re thinking about starting a boat-rental (livery) business on Lake Conroe, here are a few key things you need to know before launching:

• A commercial permit/contract is required through the San Jacinto River Authority(SJRA), including details on vessels, location, and insurance
• Proof of commercial insurance must be provided and kept current
• All rental boats must be properly titled, registered, numbered, and equipped with required safety gear
• Rental records must be maintained for at least six months and be available for inspection
• SJRA may conduct periodic inspections and can restrict operations based on lake or reservoir conditions
• Any docks, piers, or structures used with the business must be approved by SJRA
