What does a new airport mean for our region?

It means less time in the car and more time where you want to be.

When Mobile International Airport opens, many travelers across Mobile and Baldwin Counties will have a shorter drive to the airport, helping vacations start sooner, business trips become more convenient, and connections feel a little closer to home.

🚗 ➡️ ✈️ ➡️ 🏖️

MAA Board Member Abe Harper recently shared that vision with the Daphne-Spanish Fort Rotary Club during a discussion about the future of air travel in our region.

Thank you to the Rotary Club for the opportunity to join the conversation.

🌀 The best time to prepare for a hurricane is before one is in the forecast.

Last month, Mobile International Airport welcomed the NOAA Hurricane Awareness Tour, bringing together experts from NOAA, the U.S. Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters, and emergency management agencies to help educate the public about storm preparedness.

Their message was simple: Make a plan. Stay informed. Be ready.

As hurricane season begins today, we encourage everyone along the Gulf Coast to take time to prepare before the next storm is on the horizon.

Here's to a safe hurricane season. ✈️🌀

The future of air travel in Mobile is getting national attention.

Last week, Mobile International Airport became the first Alabama project featured on the Engineering & Public Works Roadshow, which has showcased more than 20 significant infrastructure projects nationwide since 2022.

Visitors got a firsthand look at the new terminal that will bring commercial air service closer to the heart of our community and create a more convenient travel experience for passengers.

Thank you to the Engineering & Public Works Roadshow, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Public Works Association, and the American Council of Engineering Companies for choosing Mobile as a stop on this year's tour.

Picture it now 👀✈️

A coffee in hand or maybe a mimosa (it’s 5 o’clock somewhere!). 🍾

This will be the boarding area at the future home of Mobile International Airport, and it’s starting to feel a lot more like an airport every month.

From the airport to the classroom ✈️🔬

Adam Hays, Mobile Airport Authority Acting Executive Director, recently visited Mrs. Hays’ 5th grade science class at Cottage Hill Christian Academy. Students put their engineering skills to work building homopolar motors using copper wire, batteries, and magnets to help visualize sustainable energy concepts.

Always a great day when future innovators get hands-on with science.

POV: your future airport is really starting to look like an airport 👀✈️

A lot changed at Mobile International Airport in April. Walls are up, spaces are taking shape, and every aerial update makes it a little easier to picture that first flight out of Mobile International.

There’s a lot of work happening here that you don’t always see from the air.

At Mobile International Airport, progress continues across the entire site.

This month:
• Major interior spaces in the terminal are taking shape
• Mechanical, electrical, and fire safety systems continue throughout the building
• Exterior insulation and finishes are moving forward
• The parking garage is advancing through power and safety systems
• The elevated roadway is complete, with final site and paving work underway

Every phase adds up.
