First spin with new motor/trans. Double (and then some) horsepower and different gearing in the super T-10 from the Muncie —- it feels like an entirely different animal. I dig it! It’ll take a season or two to become reacquainted, I’m 100% down for it!

it sure was fun being included in the & wedding reception in Rochester on Saturday. The unexpected loss of a precious family member made for a bittersweet celebration, but the gathering was filled with great people and lots of love… and some cool hot rods too!

I’ve dug Don Hyke’s 3-window since I was a kid the early 80s. Hugger Orange, Big Block with a tunnel ram, 3 pedals and 4:11s? Wicked! More pics to follow.

In the early ’70s—around 1973—Street Rodder magazine released a series of posters illustrated by Dave Bell. I believe there were nine in total (that I am aware of): five depicting hot rods and four of bikes. Growing up, I had one featuring a green Model A highboy roadster, while my brother had the blue T-bucket version. I still have both posters today, a bit worn after years on our bedroom walls and many moves.

About a month ago, I was at a friend’s shop when I spotted the McMullen roadster poster from that same series—one I’d coveted for years—hanging on the wall. Knowing he’s not one to sell much, I still couldn’t resist asking if he’d part with it and told him what it meant to me. He gave a half-hearted smile and said he’d think about it. A few weeks later, he called to ask if I was serious.

“Yes,” I replied without hesitation—thrilled at the chance to finally add a long-sought piece to my collection.

Maybe I oughta get back on my stalled Dave Bell book project that’s been gathering dust? What do you think?
