Learn how each location – Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Indianapolis, Indiana; and the Twin Cities in Minnesota – has framed the opportunity around transit investments and defined the stakeholders missing from the conversation.
Milwaukee’s first bus-rapid transit (BRT) line is under construction. The city’s 27th Street corridor is likely to be the second. For the webinar, Dave Steele, who heads up a local transit advocacy organization, will speak to leveraging the moment to help ensure that future transit-oriented development (TOD) involves the community.
In Indiana, transit agencies depend on the funding allocated by the Indiana General Assembly. This means agencies and their supporters have to continually make the case that a well-functioning transit system is an asset for everyone, including thoes who might not ride. Ambre Marr, who works on legislative issues at the capital, will talk about what’s involved in energizing stakeholder groups and legislators.
In Minneapolis/St. Paul, Metro Transit just opened its fifth BRT line. Read this piece from Governing about ambitions to be “the Bus Rapid Transit Capital of America. Find out from Kyle Burrows how the Twin Cities leveraged the success of their first arterial BRT line to build regional support for more!
