Life is the management of risk. How does David Delivery manage risk in the vital work of Expediting?
Every job has its own risks and expediting has more risk than most work; risks on highway, risks in factories and warehouses, risks working close to big equipment, etc.. If we do so incorrectly, the vital task of expediting someone's goods will at some point be be unsuccessful. How does David Delivery manage those risks?
1. Recognize risks.
2. Analyse the risk.
3. Prioritize the risk
4. Operate to minimize the risk.
1. All risks need to be seen before anything else can be done. A risk unseen will be a risk that is met in an unprepared manner.
2. Every risk needs to be understood. A misunderstood risk introduces a new unrecognized risk.
3. All risks need to be prioritized. The spending of too much time and effort on an unlikely danger will only increase the likely dangers.
4. Proceed in spite of the risks.
It is not enough to just know these things. Safe operations require personnel to desire to operate in a safe way and there is no way to operate in a safe way other than to meet all risks in a proper way.
For the benefit of our clients, David Delivery has met floods, fires, mechanical breakdowns, drivers becoming sick, other drivers bad behavior, a driver chased by an angry person with a gun, we have met the general dangers of the road. Back during the attack on the USA (9/11) David Delivery continued its vital work. We delivered a truck load of badly needed Cell phones to New York City in spite of the risks but minimizing them. COVID 19, and the actions of government and society, has introduced new risks which are all handled the same way as other risks.
We thank God for His provision in meeting and managing risks. It is humbling to know that reality is met by His kind assistance. I am first most thankful for that. I am also thankful for drivers that desire to operate in a safe way and value those we work for. That is how David Delivery has operated and may it always be so.
