New Samson post for Yankee. The last one served well for the last 50 years. A stubborn anchor that held a little too well caused the decapitation of the original. The original one was a light Philippine mahogany. The new Sapele post should outlast me. Cool to see my dad’s handwriting on the post that so served as a level line when she was being built.

Look what I found couldn’t be happier. We had this 1958 Sea Skiff come in a while back, it has a rebuilt 1971 455 Pontiac that the owner’s father installed 47 years ago. Apparently the project never got finished for the lack of manifolds.
Having never seen a marinzed Pontiac, I knew the task of finding a set of manifolds may mean that we wouldn’t be able to use this motor.
I checked eBay and found one manifold, which wouldn’t really help as we need two.
Thanks to good friend, and former race boat enthusiast, Ralph Cattaneo for making the suggestion to look to Southern California for the parts. I checked Marketplace in an area that encompassed Los Angeles and south to Tijuana, to my delight I found a two year old ad with all we needed and more. These parts were for a project started over 50 years ago that never came to fruition, they sat on a shelf for all that time.
The stars definitely aligned for this stalled project. Sadly the owner’s father is no longer with us to see his dream become reality…
Stay tuned!

Our latest project, a 1958 26’ Chris Craft Sea Skiff, that has been hibernating for almost 40 years in a garage in Cambridge, MD. Surprisingly solid lots of paint and varnish to strip. It was re powered by a 455 Pontiac motor. Missing the exhaust manifolds…so if anyone knows of anyone with a pair of marine manifolds please contact us. Thank you!
