Meet Danyah Baliu, SamTrans Training Department Manager. 💙

On her very first week as a trainee, Danyah walked up to the assistant manager and asked what she needed to do to get where he was. He told her to worry about passing the class first. She told him that was already going to happen.

18 years later, she’s running the department.

Danyah has spent her career coaching, mentoring, and believing in people — from her years as a bus operator to her time as an instructor and now as manager. She’s a lifelong soccer coach, a certified TSI instructor who has trained transit agencies across the nation, and a leader who pushes her team to constantly evolve and find new ways to reach their students.

What keeps her going? Watching trainees graduate and seeing them out on the road — and hearing them come back to say “because of you, I was able to do this.” That, she says, never gets old.

We are so proud to have her leading the SamTrans Training Department. 🚌✨
