We were well-represented yesterday in Comanche, Oklahoma, for the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship Qualifier! 🎤

It was an honor for Steven to be asked to be a ring judge and to evaluate the incredible competitors that participated in the contest, and who continue to chase the dream of being a world champion. There’s nothing better than having a great auctioneer to keep the market moving in the right direction on sale day! 🔥

Comanche is a market where we buy cattle weekly, and the Hale family, their crew, and Livestock Marketing Association Staff deserve a big thank you for putting on a great event. 🤠

Summer days are drifting away, so we thought we’d recap a few of our travels and most recent events! Enjoy a few fun snapshots of our where summer took us. 🤠

Earlier in June we traveled to Deadwood, South Dakota for the Livestock Marketing Association convention where Stephanie was asked to be a judge for the interview portion of the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship. A big thank you goes out to LMA, their staff, and to the crew at St. Onge Livestock for putting on a first class event! We are also proud of Bracken for being recognized for his dedication to being an active member of the GIA committee.

While in South Dakota, we stopped to see our friends at Faith Livestock where several of you may remember us having many Angus bull sales there for Lastovica Cattle Company. We also had a chance to visit Mount Rushmore, which was an incredible opportunity to see in person!

July was hot, but it didn’t stop us for a second! We kept the roads full with trucks loaded with cattle that were moving in all directions. We were even able to pull the big bosses (Sandra & Steven) in to help us keep trucks loaded and off the lot! 👏

August was no different than July, and included several country cattle shippings of which many Stuart handled. Our littlest boss sure makes a good hand, and loves every second of loading and unloading cows and going to check on them out in the pasture!
We wrapped up the month with Bracken testifying on the resiliency of Texas Agriculture to the Committe on Agriculture and Texas Livestock.

Looking forward to a fun fall that brings us more great opportunities, and hopefully cooler weather and rain! 🫶

As the first US case of New World Screwworm has been confirmed tonight, the most important FACT that we in the industry must communicate to consumers is that it does not pose any food safety risk.

We thank the work of USDA and our industry groups for uniting around a push to eradicate this parasite from North America. We know that we will defeat this pest once again.

Today, we proudly celebrate 40 years of business as Milano Livestock Exchange! What began as a weekly livestock auction on May 6, 1986, and ran successfully for thirty years, selling more than 1.7 million head of cattle, became a different business model in 2016 as we welcomed the next generation, operating solely as a livestock dealership, buying cattle across Texas and the United States.

With hard work and strong relationships at our foundation, we operate as a family business, and truly appreciate our valued customers and cherished friends. We focus on involvement in state and national organizations to stay relevant within the business, keeping current with industry changes and policies.

As our next generation of the Lastovica and Marburger Families continues our business, we look forward to maintaining our legacy and commitment to our customers, and strive for excellence in the livestock industry.
