As we observe Memorial Day each year, let us take a moment to pause and remember the brave men and women who have given their lives in service to the United States. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten, and their legacy will continue to inspire future generations to uphold the values of freedom, justice, and democracy for which they fought and died.

CVSA's International Roadcheck Scheduled for May 12-14
https://cvsa.org/news/2026-roadcheck/
From May 12 to 14, enforcement personnel throughout North America will inspect commercial motor vehicles and commercial motor vehicle drivers for compliance with vehicle, cargo and driver regulatory requirements as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance's (CVSA) 72-hour inspection, enforcement and data-collection initiative, International Roadcheck.
During International Roadcheck, inspectors at weigh/inspection stations and pop-up inspection sites primarily conduct the North American Standard Level I Inspection, a 37-step procedure that includes two major parts - an examination of the driver's operating requirements and an assessment of the vehicle's mechanical fitness.
For the driver portion of the inspection, inspectors check the driver's qualifications, license, record of duty status, medical examiner's certificate, seat belt usage, skill performance evaluation certificate
For the vehicle portion of the inspection, inspectors assess the vehicle's brake systems, cargo securement, coupling devices, driveline/driveshaft components, driver's seat, fuel and exhaust systems, frames, lighting devices, steering mechanisms, suspensions, tires, wheels, rims, hubs, and windshield wipers. Inspections of motorcoaches/buses and other passenger-carrying commercial motor vehicles also include examination of emergency exits, seating, and electrical cables and systems in the engine and battery compartments.
Be careful and safe

60 Minutes investigates how some trucking fleets are racking up safety violations and shifting from one company to another to evade federal enforcement and erase a bad safety record.

Known as “chameleon carriers,” these companies are four times more likely to be involved in a severe crash, according to the risk assessment firm Fusable. https://cbsn.ws/4mtt164

When you tell people you care about your employees, but you really do mean it.

How many carriers sent this to their customers with the impending storm.

Due to the ever-changing weather, we have decided to cancel all deliveries scheduled for Monday, February 23rd, to ensure the safety of our drivers, your freight, and first responders who need open roadways.

We apologize for any inconvenience, but forecasters are predicting 20 or more inches of snow along the Northeast and I-95 corridor into Maine

We will reach out to as many customers as possible, but we will do the bulk of rescheduling Monday morning once the snow has subsided

Thank you for your understanding

Truck drivers and carriers should prepare for heightened enforcement during the upcoming 2026 International Roadcheck, with inspectors placing special emphasis on ELD tampering and cargo securement compliance.

The annual three-day inspection blitz organized by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) will take place May 12–14, 2026, at weigh stations and temporary roadside inspection sites across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

During the operation, inspectors will conduct standard Level I inspections covering both driver and vehicle components.

Driver inspection focus will include:
• Commercial driver’s license and qualifications
• Record of duty status (RODS)
• Medical examiner’s certificate
• Seat belt use
• Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse status (U.S.)
• Signs of drug or alcohol impairment

This year’s driver-focused enforcement category is ELD tampering, falsification, or manipulation. Inspectors will be specifically watching for altered data, disconnected devices, improper edits, or attempts to bypass hours-of-service regulations.

Vehicle inspection focus will include:
• Brake systems
• Cargo securement
• Coupling devices
• Steering and suspension
• Tires, wheels, rims, and hubs
• Lighting systems
• Frames and driveline components

The vehicle emphasis area for 2026 is load securement, meaning improperly secured cargo will likely receive increased scrutiny.

Roadcheck is one of the largest commercial vehicle enforcement efforts in North America each year, often resulting in thousands of inspections and out-of-service orders.

Drivers are encouraged to:
• Verify ELD compliance and functionality
• Review hours-of-service logs for accuracy
• Double-check load securement before departure
• Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections

Five Years Without You… Yet Always With Us
Five years ago, we said goodbye to a father, a leader, and the heart of our family.
But not a day goes by that we don’t feel your presence.
From the early days beside the trucks…
To the proud moments dressed in our best…
To the laughter, the strength, and even the quiet pauses in between —
You built more than a company. You built a legacy of faith, hard work, loyalty, and family.
The sunlight that shines through the trees reminds us of you —
steady, warm, and guiding us forward.
Zimmerman Truck Lines and Zimmerman Truck Repairs stand today because of the foundation you laid and the example you lived.
We miss you.
We honor you.
We carry you with us in everything we do.
Forever in our hearts.
— The Zimmerman Family
