This Zeppelin was made for Aristo-Craft Model trains, acquired in 2013 when Aristo Craft went out of business. Aristo-Craft used it at all the shows they set up at and the owner says only one was ever made. Probably not very valuable but just a cool train related piece. Happy to have it added to our hoard and will be incorporated into our layout.

Added to our hoard, the Lionel Helicopter Reconnaissance Car No. 3619 would open the roof and launch a helicopter into space by the use of a No. 6019 or USC uncoupling track section after a winder was manually compressed. This car is C-9, unfortunately the Copter is reproduction. We will be searching the correct Red copter to make this all original.

Made from 1962 through 1964, each side of this car was molded differently. It used the molds first created for the No. 3530 EMD Mobile Generator Car. The proper helicopter for this car is a TYPE E that is difficult to find unbroken today. This car came with AAR trucks and disc couplers. There are two variations:

Variation A: Yellow car with Black roof sections.

Variation B: Darker Yellow color. This variation is slightly more difficult to find.

Added to our Hoard is the Lionel 3376-160 Giraffe car, essentially a stock car which Lionel modified to accommodate a bobbing giraffe head. This fantasy-notion car made use of a new concept introduced in 1960 where a giraffe's head disappears inside the car after passing under a telltale.
The 3376-160 was introduced with the following features: unpainted blue body with white lettering, AAR trucks, two operating couplers plus a yellow giraffe. In most cases the giraffe has brown spots; however plain yellow giraffes do exist. The plain yellow giraffe is harder to find.
Blue Body & White Lettering - The common version.
Green Body & Yellow Lettering - This is a hard version to locate.
Production Timeline
o 1960 - Introduced as listed above.
o 1964 - One operating and one fixed coupler replace the two operating couplers.
o Circa 1965 - Green body with yellow lettering replaced the blue body with white lettering.
o 1969 - Blue body with yellow lettering appears as a one-year-only item.

Added to our hoard is the Lionel 6464-500 Timken box car, the 500 was one of only a select few 6464-style box cars having two independent production runs. Produced 1957 - 1959 & 1969 the excellent graphics with a bright yellow exterior plus realistic markings on this car continue to make it a favorite of collectors and operators.
The 6464-500 Timken box car is not an easy car to acquire. Collector quality examples are hard to find as the yellow and white are prone to attracting dirt and smudges from handling. Clean cars with nice graphics remain in demand.
Most collector guides indicate the second production run was only for a single year: 1969. However, there are some 1968 Hagerstown boxes for the Timken, indicating the box car was produced in both 1968 & 1969. The Hagerstown box is a difficult box to locate.

Added to our Hoard is 455 Oil Derrick, an impressive looking accessory. produced from 1950 - 1954 - It is based upon a typical mid-west American oil derrick built in the 1930s or 1940s. Added to our hoard - LIONEL STD GA BABY STATE SET, 318E ELEC LOCO & 3 COACHES 310, 309 & 312, 3 OBS 318E Loco with original wheels and Bild-A-Loco motor. Not in the best condition and we have no plans of restoration, but still a very cool set. Now we need the big brother.
