Not many people know this, but 78 miles west of Key West is the largest Masonary structure on the western hemisphere Fort Jefferson Dry Tortugas it was a fort a prison that protects absolutely nothing one of those government reports anyway, the water surrounding the Tortugas are amazing. Now it’s a 400 mi.² national state park. I did a lot of fishing there back in the mid 70s that’s before they changed all the rules and regulations everything is big out there if you’re in Key West for a while it’s a must see place to go go hang out and Dr. Mudd‘s cell look him up in your history book.
