Withers Worldwide

Withers Worldwide In 1909, John E. Withers left the bitter cold winters of the North behind and settled his family in the warmer and more inviting climate of Miami, Florida.

He brought with him two things that would serve him well: experience in transporting goods, and a good sense of business. In the early 1900s, Miami was a new and growing destination for tourists. It was also a city of opportunity for Withers. With one horse and wagon, he would meet arriving passengers at the train station and transport their luggage to the Royal Palm Hotel. This was the beginning

of Withers Transfer and Storage – the beginning of a tradition of service. Withers’ sons (and, later, his grandsons) would see the company through its next 50 years of growth and expansion.

Some people order pizza. Chef Michael Schwartz orders 1,000-pound pizza ovens - and our team was happy to deliver!

"Sliced: A Genuine Pizza Party," a highlight of this year's Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival, served up pies in all imaginable forms from some of the nation's top pizza makers, set to indie-rock beats by Gainesville band The Hails and an open bar of beer, wine and cocktails.

For his passionate commitment in restoring the Coral Gables Museum’s iconic front desk, our own company president Chip Withers was recognized, along with the Museum team, at today’s 2019 City Beautiful Awards hosted by The Coral Gables Chamber Of Commerce.

The Museum’s new front desk stylistically recalls the original piece that graced the historic building’s lobby in 1939. It features an additional credenza, as well as a vintage stone coat of arms dating to the 1920s. Next time you check in, take a moment to appreciate this rare piece of history we are so fortunate to have in the Gables!

How do you move a priceless masterpiece? Very, very carefully.

Some pieces are so huge, or so heavy, that the only way is by shipping container (although getting them in to Art Basel Miami during the tail end of hurricane season makes that risky in different ways). More often, artworks travel as air freight, which means arriving at the airport at least 5 hours in advance and monitoring the crate being lifted into the belly of the aircraft.
