The $2.4 million Opera Godfather Baguette with Red Sapphires is a 1-of-1 creation that sits somewhere between haute horlogerie, high jewellery, mechanical art and cinema.
Crafted in 18K rose gold, the 49mm case is set with 419 baguette-cut red sapphires totaling approximately 32.03 carats, while its twin music-box cylinders are finished with another 666 brilliant-cut white diamonds.
Inside, a 654-component movement brings the entire composition to life: a flying triple-axis tourbillon, rotating time display, miniature piano, violin-shaped winding crank and Don Vito Corleone seated beneath the sapphire crystal.
And then it performs.
On demand, the mechanical music box plays Nino Rota’s unmistakable theme from The Godfather.
