One of the biggest differences between a fuel-efficient driver and a fuel-burning driver is anticipation.
The efficient driver is always looking 10 to 15 seconds ahead. They see the light going red before it turns. They coast instead of braking hard. They approach intersections slowly to avoid a complete stop.
The reactive driver brakes late and accelerates hard. Every one of those hard stops and hard accelerations is a fuel burn spike. You can see it in the mpg. You will feel it in the settlement.
Drive like you can see the road before you get there.
That one habit alone is worth hundreds of dollars a year.
