➡️ Comments are being accepted on proposed changes to the regional long-range transportation plan, Communities in Motion 2050, and the regional transportation improvement program, the budget of transportation projects in Ada and Canyon Counties, to significantly increase the cost of an existing project and add two projects.

The Idaho Transportation Department has requested a $5 million increase in design funding for a project to improve mobility along Interstate 84 in southern Idaho and complete final design. An ongoing study will determine the most effective improvement locations and types.

Two new projects have also been proposed: 43rd Street, from Ustick Road to the Boise River Greenbelt in Garden City (right-of-way only), and the Swan Falls Bridge (design only) project (both Ada County Highway District).

It's FAQ Friday! Today we're asking, "why does COMPASS exist?"

COMPASS exists to serve as a regional forum for transportation planning and budgeting federal transportation funds. While a forum such as COMPASS makes practical sense, it is also a federal requirement for regions over 50,000 to receive federal transportation funding.

COMPASS' Employee of the Month is John Hardesty!

John has revolutionized our Data Bike and Pedestrian Counter program and continues to bring this program to life every day. His hard work organizing, refreshing, and streamlining the process has been incredibly successful. You can find him out in the field installing and repairing counters, planning for the Data Bike to hit the pathways this summer, and in the office sorting through data to ensure we have the most up-to-date information. You’re awesome, John! Congrats!

Wearing a helmet is a really good move!🚴

It's officially the 100 Deadliest Days of Summer on our roadways. We're working together as a community to make it the 100 SAFEST Days of Summer.

05/27/2026

From Memorial Day to Labor Day, traffic crashes and fatalities increase nationwide - especially for teen drivers. This is known as the "100 Deadliest Days." More time on the road, more distractions, and higher speeds can quickly turn dangerous.

But this trend isn’t inevitable. It’s preventable.

Let’s all do our part:
🚗 Drive the speed limit
📵 Stay off your phone
🍺 Never drive impaired
🔒 Buckle up—every trip, every time

Every choice you make behind the wheel matters. Let’s look out for each other and reverse this trend - it's a Good Move.

Let’s get there safely.
