Grandpap went out early this morning to some Saturday yard sales. And then we went back out to the Farmer’s Market and some more flea markets. We didn’t take many pictures today. There were so many chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits and goats for sale at the flea markets. And at the Farmer’s Market “lemonade mix” was available in about a dozen flavors. Never seen that before. I bought some watermelon lemonade, and some banana bread for Grandpap. We had lunch in Greenville, MO at Kinfolks Restaurant. I had the catfish and it was so good!!! Tomorrow we head towards Branson.

Today we travelled to Poplar Bluff and around the lake stopping at the Visitor Center and the Dam. We stopped at a couple flea markets and one had chickens, turkeys, rabbits and goats for sale.

Warm day but nice breeze.

Today we crossed the Mississippi River in to Missouri!! Our first time camping in MO. We are at the Redman Creek campground at Lake Wappapello. This is another US Army Corps of Engineers campground and very nice!!

Today we checked out more around Rend Lake, the Visitor’s Center and went to the town of Sesser, before coming back to camp to eat. In the afternoon I travelled to a gym in Christopher and then checked out that town.

Today we crossed in to Illinois and are camping at South Sundusky Campground at Rend Lake for 2 nights. It’s a beautiful Army Corps of Engineers campground.

Yesterday afternoon we travelled to French Lick and Baden Springs. French Lick was the boyhood home of Larry Bird, “the Hick from French Lick”.

French Lick and Baden Springs have huge resorts and a casino at the one in French lick.

This morning we went out early to visit two attractions in the park. The first was the boat ride in to the Twin Caves. There was almost 100 steep steps to get down to the boat. We walked down to the first landing and both decided it was a little much for us. The boat travels 500 feet in the cave, and the temp in the cave is 50*. It was a very beautiful area deep in the woods.

Our second stop was more successful. We walked around Pioneer Village. The original Village was established around 1810 and abandoned in 1873 when the railroad bypassed the Village. Some buildings have been restored, others recreated. There’s 20 structures within the current Village.

We ran in to Mitchell for a couple groceries and
came back to camp and Grandpap made a wonderful breakfast!

We had a great travel day today…pulled out at 9am and by 1pm we were setting up camp at Spring Mill State Park near Mitc...

We had a great travel day today…pulled out at 9am and by 1pm we were setting up camp at Spring Mill State Park near Mitchell, IN.

This is a beautiful park, a couple hundred camp sites, a beautiful Inn, swimming pool, lake, caves, Pioneer Village, and lots of trails.

Tomorrow we hope to check out the caves and Pioneer Village before it gets too hot.

Grandpap has his Starlink, and I’ve got a Margarita and my Kindle. Life is good!

Good day checking out the area. We started out with the Historic Road Yard Sale. It takes place along US 40 from Baltimore to St. Louis, for 824 miles. We did the section from Richmond, IN to Centreville, IN. Passed so many, and stopped at a dozen or so of the bigger ones.

While in Richmond we also walked around the Farmer’s Market, and drove through Glen Miller Park where we saw the Lady of the Trail statue.

On the way back we travelled through Metamora, an old canal town.

We finished the day with ice cream down by the lake.

A beautiful day!!

We are near Brookville, IN at the Mounds SRA at Brookville Lake. Huge lake with lots of boaters and campers. We’ll be here until Sunday.

Travelled across the Miami River and saw Miami University of Ohio on the way here. Very pretty campus.
