Once sailing is completed, a few pulls on the furling line while easing tension on the main halyard results in turning of the furler mandrel (aluminum tube). As were are coming in the harbor under motor, this process can be done over a few minutes without leaving the cockpit. No more running up the boom and mast to "catch" the sail. No more sail ties. No more flaking the sail. No more adjusting the lazy jacks or sail bag. The finished furl is nice and clean and it does not leave any creases on the sail. It's ready for the next adventure.

A recent sail during brisk wind conditions were easily handled by taking a small reef with the boom furler. The photos show the sail nicely shaped while on a downwind run. The lighter color of the leach of the sail is the sun-protection fabric that allows the sail to be exposed to the sun when furled.
