ELECTRIC TRUCKS? THE END OF DIESEL? š
The electric truck revolution sparks the interest of large companies, such as Tesla or Mercedes Benz. The development of electric trucks can be a real turning point in road transport, a change of model towards a much more sustainable future.
And although that future is difficult to predict exactly, it is estimated that in ten years the use of electric trucks will be fully integrated into our large-volume transport model. However, as we will see below, there are two problems that the brands must solve: the autonomy of the batteries and the final price of the models.
Today, we will analyze one of the greats that intends to lead and compete to monopolize the electric truck sector.
Tesla Semi The Tesla Semi was presented to society at the end of 2017 and is called to be one of the pioneers in the world of electric trucks. Elon Musk's company has developed this machine that is capable of traveling up to 800 kilometers on a single charge and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about twenty seconds when loaded with maximum weight (about 36 tons). Without a doubt, it has a very efficient as well as powerful engine, making it one of the most powerful electric trucks with the most autonomy. And it is that the acceleration data without load surpasses any other: from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds, much faster than diesel trucks and even many passenger cars.
Of course, the control of this Tesla Semi is carried out with the latest technologies (integrated browser, Autopilot function, information on battery levels and consumption, cabin with a central seat and futuristic design, etc.)
As for recharging, the Tesla Semi system will allow 80% of the battery to be recharged in just 30 minutes, thanks to the mega-chargers that will use solar energy. In addition, as an alternative, it can be recharged at any plug, although more slowly. According to Elon Musk, the Tesla Semi will go into mass production in 2022 and its price will range between $130,000 and $160,000.
In a next Post we will show you more of the main companies that want to dominate the Electric Truck Marketā¦
