One of the things that surprises people when they first speak to me is that we often spend more time discussing how they want to travel than where they want to go.
Of course, destination matters. So does choosing the right hotel. But after many years of designing tailor made travel, I've found that the success of a trip often comes down to decisions that aren't immediately obvious when you're researching online.
It's easy to compare hotels, flight times and prices. What's harder is knowing whether a particular itinerary will actually suit you.
Will three nights be enough, or will you wish you'd stayed longer?
Is it worth adding another destination, or will it make the trip feel rushed?
Will that early morning flight really be worth it after a long journey home?
These aren't questions that have right or wrong answers. They depend entirely on the people travelling.
Many of the trips I arrange are journeys my clients have been talking about for years. A dream safari. An epic rail journey through Canada. A special anniversary. A long awaited trip with family or friends.
When a trip is that important, most people don't want to spend months second guessing their decisions or wondering whether they've overlooked something.
That's where experience can make a difference.
In many cases, my clients have already done plenty of research themselves. What I can do is help them make sense of the options, spot potential pitfalls and shape an itinerary that feels right for them.
Over the years I've also built a trusted network of contacts across the travel industry. Those relationships provide valuable insight, local knowledge and support on the ground, helping me create better travel experiences and giving my clients confidence that they're in good hands throughout their journey.
Sometimes that's suggesting an extra night somewhere. Sometimes it's recommending a completely different route. And occasionally it's encouraging a client not to do something they've seen online because I know it won't add value to their trip.
The best itineraries rarely come from trying to fit in as much as possible. More often, they come from understanding what matters most and building the journey around that.
When clients return home, they don't usually tell me how smoothly the flights connected or how well the logistics worked. They tell me about the bear they spotted in Canada, the sunset they watched from a safari lodge, or the family memories they made together.
Those moments are the reason we travel in the first place.
The planning is simply what helps make them possible.
Whether you choose to use me or any of our associates, we strive to curate the special moments you will always remember. 😇
