Current Fall Foliage Conditions — Friday, Oct. 9 🍂

Fall is here! Leaves across New Jersey are showing more color and even beginning to drop, especially in northern parts of the state. Some tree species, including maples, birches and poplars, change color earlier than others, while many trees are just beginning to change. With another small storm predicted this weekend, let’s hope the leaves hang on for a bit longer. 🌳

In celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary, let’s show off New Jersey’s 250 shades of color! Share your most recent fall foliage photos in the comments and give us an updated look at the colors and types of trees in your area of New Jersey in the comments. ⬇️

This should be interesting news for our anglers out there that like to spend time stalking trout when they !

🎣 FALL TROUT STOCKING INFORMATION 🎣

Beginning October 13, NJDEP Fish & Wildlife will stock approximately 29,000 two-year old Rainbow Trout, averaging 14-16 inches over a two-week period.

In addition to these trout, up to 1,000 Broodstock trout (three-year old Rainbow Trout, averaging 18-22 inches) will also be stocked. Broodstock trout are mixed in with each truckload of fish to provide exciting fishing opportunities throughout the state.

New regulations are in effect this season. The minimum size is 9 inches and the daily limit is 2 trout.

All fall-stocked waters may be fished as soon as they are stocked. There are no “closed waters” during fall stocking.
