From discovery to study — and on to the next one.
Over the last two field seasons, our team worked on an incredible Edmontosaurus mummy (Medusa) from the Hell Creek Formation. In 2025, that specimen was successfully delivered to , where it’s now being studied and helping expand what we know about dinosaur preservation and life at the end of the Cretaceous.
Finds like this don’t happen without teamwork, patience, and people willing to get their hands dirty in the field.
Maybe the next great discovery will be yours.
We’re still booking our upcoming field season — and our sale runs through the end of February, but spots are filling fast.

What can you find in the Hell Creek Formation? 🦖
The Hell Creek Formation represents one of the last dinosaur-dominated ecosystems on Earth, right before the mass extinction 66 million years ago.

Some of the most commonly found fossils include:
Triceratops, Edmontosaurus, turtles, fish, crocodilians and a wide variety of plant fossils

Less common—but absolutely real—discoveries include:
Tyrannosaurs, dromaeosaurs, ornithomimids, Ankylosaurus and early mammals.

And the best part? You could be the one to find one. Our 2026 field season is open.

What Does a Trip with Hell Creek Fossils Look Like?

Guests spend 6–8 hours outdoors prospecting and excavating in the Hell Creek Formation. You’ll learn how to spot fossils weathering out of the ground, identify bone versus rock, and take part in careful excavation using proper field methods.
After the field day wraps up, we move into lab work. Evenings are spent prepping fossils at various stages — from basic cleaning to more detailed preparation — giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what happens after fossils leave the ground.
It’s a hands-on experience focused on learning, patience, and real paleontology.
