Meet Denny, Rodney and their labor of love for the last 18 years. That's right, I said 18 years, but boy was it worth it! An RV 7A built at The Marion Airport! This highly modified piece of aviation art has been perfected by these two builders/flyers! If you ever get a chance to have a visit with these guys, it's well worth your time. Well done gentlemen! Can't wait to see what you build next!

This past week the aviation community lost one of its greats. Jim was a staple at many Marion Airport fly-in events over the years, most recently bringing his Huey to a car meet up, and was the hit of the show. He will be greatly missed. He touched countless lives In simply sharing his love of and passion for aviation. Sending our prayers and thoughts to Jim’s many family and friends.

Hello fellow aviators and car enthusiasts,
CAR MEET-Drive in / Fly in event Friday, August 8th, 2025, from 6-9 p.m. at the Marion Airport (1690 Marion Airport Rd. Marion, IA. 52302)
All makes & models of cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc. will be on display. Food and beverage vendors will be on the field. Helicopter rides (weather permitting) will be available for purchase.
Drive in or Fly in but please join us for a night of classic cars and Airplanes! Sure to be a lot of fun!

Yesterday, 8/19/24, was National Aviation Day!

Established in 1939, National Aviation Day celebrates the development of aviation in the United States, and was selected as the 19th of August to coincide with Orville Wright's Birthday.

Did you know that the Cedar Rapids area plays a pivotal role in the development of aviation? The Wright brothers lived in this area when Orville was just 6 years old and Wilbur was 11, and their inspiration for powered flight can be traced to the gift of a flying toy they received while living right here in Iowa.

Continuing to inspire the next generation of aviators is a key mission for the Marion Airport.
