Rumors…They make me laugh because most of the time people don’t know what the hell they are talking about or saying. However, when those rumors from the local pulling community get heard by my Boss and he asks me if I’m retiring soon…

Thought it would be best to address them.

Rumor has it that we are selling our tractor, selling our business to a truck stop, and moving to Tennessee. 🤣

1. Yes, we are selling our tractor.

2. No, we have NOT sold our business and property. It is NOT for sale. Todd is not ready to retire yet. 🙄 I push him all the time to sell and let’s move South, but the man is not ready yet. Hard work ethic runs in the “Maedge” gene pool. That is why all three Maedge boys each have their own business. I call it the “Maedge Curse” and it is annoying at times for us normal people who just want to relax once in a while.

3. The truck stop is purchasing the property located to the South of our business. We do NOT own that property. Todd spoke at several zoning hearings in favor of the Special Use permit that was needed for the truck stop.

4. Tennessee is a nice place, but we do NOT own property there. Our property is in Kentucky.

5. I am NOT retiring yet. I telework 100 percent of the time from home. It’s awesome and I like my job. So for now, I will continue working for the next 4.5 years or until Todd decides to retire, sell, and move to Kentucky. Whichever comes first.

So, whomever started the rumor about selling our shop, can you please help me convince Todd that it is time? I could use the help, because he is not listening to me. 🙄🙄

It is time for us to step away from the pulling world. Todd was recently hospitalized for heart issues and has been diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome. He is doing good now and they are going to try to control it with medication. If that does not work he will need a pacemaker. His health and keeping our business going are his top priorities. We also have to start thinking about retirement in the near future and getting our place in Kentucky ready. When we sold our first tractor it was hard to let it go. This one will be extremely tough to let go since he built this tractor himself and was able to run it at the National level. It was a dream the Farmboy from Marine had since he was a little boy going to the Highland Fair and watching Dennis Schnitker on his tractor named Black Savage. We have made some awesome friends, fans, and memories along the way and wish all the pullers an awesome season in 2024.
