🚌 It's back to school time!🎒
Many schools in our area are already back in session, and more will be starting soon. As everyone settles into a new school-year routine, please remember to slow down, stay alert and watch for school buses and children walking to and from school.
If you’re driving, remember these simple rules:
🟡 Yellow flashing lights: The bus is preparing to stop to load or unload children. Slow down and prepare to stop.
🔴 Red flashing lights + extended stop arm: The bus has stopped and children are getting on or off. You must stop and wait until the red lights stop flashing, the stop arm is withdrawn and the bus begins moving before continuing.
👀 Stay alert even when the lights aren’t flashing. Watch carefully for children in the morning and mid-afternoon, especially around school arrival and dismissal times. Be extra cautious when backing out of a driveway or driving through neighborhoods, school zones and near bus stops.
A few extra seconds of caution can make a big difference. Let’s help keep our community’s kids safe this school year! 💛
