Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop by this afternoon into early evening near a warm front draped between the I-74 and I-80 corridor. Storms will become more widespread across central Illinois late this evening and overnight.

While the timing of storm development remains somewhat uncertain, a Tornado Watch will be needed to cover this threat within the next 1-2 hours. Stay weather aware!

Severe weather is coming through central Illinois today. Plan accordingly. You know what to do and what not to do. This isn't our first rodeo.

Here are some things to remember.

1. Get your weather updates from a credible source like Meteorologist Chris Yates or Meteorologist Brian Walder 25 News. Don't listen to your high school friend Jethro who seen on the Twitter machine that a monsoon is going to hit Goofy Ridge.

2. The only comments you should be leaving under social media weather posts should be "thank you" or a report of what is happening where you live. Meteorologists don't have time for personalized forecasts ("I'll be at the corner of College and Veterans in Normal at 3:18pm for a foot doctor appointment. Should I wear rain boots and if so what color?")

Or overly nerdy scientific questions/statements ("I really think you should show a map of the thermodynamics of the vortex of the downdraft of the mesocyclone...") If you think you're a better forecaster start your own page.

3. Don't call or email the tv stations complaining that weather coverage is interrupting your favorite program. It won't change anything, but will confirm you are a bad person.
