Bozeman got lots of snow on Tuesday (today). I got a phone call about 4 pm from Chuck Rassnick, a friend of mine that works at (KBZN) Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport. He said the snow was piling up so high that it caused the Localizer of the ILS system to stop working. He asked if we could get a snowcat out to the airport right away and have about 10 acres of snow cleared off by morning so the airport could resume instrument flights ASAP. Derek and I went and got one of the cats off of another job in 4*F, windy mountain weather and had it to the airport by 9:30 pm
So here we are taking turns staying awake tonight moving huge piles of snow out of the way of the Localizer antena. Jennifer Russell is KBZN’s Operations Supervisor on duty tonight riding along and giving us safe separation from taking off and landing aircraft.

Lots of horsepower, traction and floatation. Our multi blades are 16 feet wide and carry lots of snow. We clear drifts away from the road - over ditches and can pile snow up as high as needed. We also make berms of snow in the fields that act as a snow fence to help prevent future road drifting - but this snow fence melts away in the spring! 👍
