DIRECTOR SPOTLIGHT: TOM MCCOSH
As Director of the Monroe County Airport (KMNV), Tom McCosh has transformed our local airport into one of Tennesseeâs most respected general aviation destinations.
In 2019, Tom was named Airport Manager of the Year by the Tennessee Aeronautics Commission. Just one year earlier, KMNV was selected as Airport of the Year by the Tennessee Aeronautics Commission and the Tennessee Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division.
When Tom was asked to lead the airport a decade ago, it was a quiet facility. Today, itâs a thriving regional hub known for:
⢠High aircraft traffic
⢠Competitive fuel prices
⢠Expanded hangar space
⢠Exceptional customer service
Under his leadership, more than $14 million in state and federal airport improvement grants have been secured that has funded:
⢠A new parallel taxiway
⢠Runway seal coat improvements
⢠New taxiway lighting and airfield markings
⢠Ramp expansion that tripled tie-down space
⢠A new large box hangar, with plans for over two dozen additional private hangars
But for Tom, itâs never just about infrastructure.
Known for working 14â15 hours a day, seven days a week, Tom often greets pilots personally, sometimes with his signature blue apron on, cooking his famous âflyboy omeletsâ during fly-ins and community appreciation events. Under Tomâs leadership, Monroe County Airport is more than a runway, itâs a welcoming front door to our community and a place where service, hospitality, and dedication are front and center.
Thank you, Tom, for your tireless commitment to Monroe County and for helping our community soar.
