As Without Driving Week wraps up, I chose to take part by walking to my advocacy stops instead of driving. It was a good reminder of how much access depends on transportation, and how many people navigate that every day.
I also used the week to share my feature in the Cap Times about DVR and Medicaid funding. I'm a person with cerebral palsy who works in schools and the community, and my personal care worker and job coach are what make that possible. I call it the banana bread problem: you can be one ingredient short and it still comes out fine, but take one more thing away and it collapses.
October is also National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Employment supports like DVR and Medicaid aren't extras. They're what let people with disabilities work, contribute, and stay part of our communities.

If you care about this, please share it, and tell your lawmakers that disability funding should be protected, not cut. 💛
