⚠️ Road Work Notice for Airport Visitors ⚠️

On Thursday, May 14, Jefferson County Highway Department crews will be replacing culverts on Borcherding Rd. between Interstate Block and the airport entrance.

Access to the airport may be impacted between approximately 8:00 AM and midday. Please plan to use Chicken Run Rd. as an alternate route during the closure.

Watch for road crews, flaggers, and signage in the area, and allow a few extra minutes for travel.

PARALLEL TAXIWAY WARRANTY REPAIRS UNDERWAY

Crews are currently performing crack seal warranty touch-up repairs on portions of the parallel taxiway at Madison Regional Airport. This work is related to the major pavement maintenance project completed last fall and is focused on addressing a few areas identified for follow-up under the contractor’s warranty.

A NOTAM has been issued for work in progress, and pilots are encouraged to use caution around maintenance personnel and equipment operating on the airfield.

These repairs are part of the airport’s continued effort to protect pavement life, maintain safe operating surfaces, and ensure the long-term condition of our airfield infrastructure.

⚠️ AWOS PHONE LINE NOTICE ⚠️

The landline connected to the airport’s Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) is currently experiencing an issue where it will only ring when called. We are aware of the problem, and a technician is scheduled to be onsite Thursday to complete repairs.

At this time, the AWOS itself is operating normally and METAR reports are continuing to upload without interruption.

🚁 Everyone meet Kate!

She is our newest flight nurse at IN7! While Kate is new at Madison, she is coming to us from the clincial standards team. Kate was recently serving as clinical educator for the StatFlight program! Kate has been a nurse for 8 years, with a background in emergency nursing and level 1 trauma. Kate also has experience in flight nursing prior to her current new role. She has a bachelors degree in nursing from University of Louisville and is board certified in emergency, trauma, and flight nursing. Outside of work, she has two talkative huskies and plenty of plants to take care of! 🐾🪴🌺

✈️ Inspiring the Next Generation of Aviation ✈️

We had a great time last Sunday welcoming 55 4-H members out to Madison Regional Airport!

Students had the opportunity to explore aviation firsthand and hear directly from professionals across the industry. They spent time learning about careers from a UPS pilot, aircraft maintenance technicians, air medical crew, flight instructors, and airport management, getting a real look at what it takes to keep aviation moving.

Experiences like this are what spark interest and open doors to future careers in aviation and beyond.

We had a great morning at Madison Regional Airport welcoming the Mayor’s Eagles from Lydia Middleton Elementary for Student Government Day.

Students got an up close look at airport operations, aircraft, and what it takes to keep things moving safely and efficiently every day. From watching aircraft activity to hearing from PHI Air Medical, it was a hands on experience that gave them a real look at aviation right here in Madison.

A big thank you to Events Coordinator Megan Varble for putting together the goodie bags for the students. They were a great touch and much appreciated by everyone.

We enjoyed having such an engaged group visit the airport and hope it sparked some interest in aviation and the opportunities it brings.

Due to the ever-increasing cost of fuel, Madison Regional Airport has implemented a few innovative upgrades to maintain service while keeping operations efficient.

Our fuel truck has been upgraded for maximum efficiency, durability, and… fuel conservation.

Additionally, we are excited to welcome several new hires to our line staff team. They bring a unique skillset and a strong commitment to fuel conservation.

Rest assured:
• Full-service and self-service fuel options are still available
• Marshalling services remain available (now with enhanced visibility equipment)
